Alison Irwin, Cosmos Redo

Cosmos Redo, first one is the moon with the result of me getting sick of trying to get it in focus so i swung my camera around... Second is the moon again in the trees focussed.
Let me know what you think, & terribly sorry for taking over the blog with all these posts...

Amber Hartin - Theme 4 - Cosmos

I will write something later.

Alright folks. So I did these using some Polaroids. I pretty much just took a photograph of whatever and manipulated them in various ways. Mostly I started to burn them before the picture was given time to expose except on a couple. I also cracked a couple of them open because the burning makes the plastic bubble up. Basically I fooled around in photoshop with the scanned polaroids and came out with these nifty little results. I also had previously taken a picture of the sky at night which I overlayed on top of the first one (on the left). I will probably fool around with the third one a bit to make it more cohesive with the other two (and perhaps a couple others I've been working on). I tried just the two to the left on their own and didn't like it as much.
I don't think I really need to explain how they're related to cosmos, since they look like...the cosmos.

I edited the last image a bit and think it works better with the others now.
There's the diptych of just the left two. I'm pretty set on the 3 but what do you guys think?

Alison Irwin, Theme 4, Cosmos

Cosmos........ So it needs some work but I figure you have to start somewhere. This is in my backyard & I thought the trees all lit up was kind of cool... Made it more blue to get that midnight feel with the stars. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Abby Klages | Theme 4 | Cosmos

Hi,

This is it. Same photo I just played around with Colour Balance on Photoshop. I did it for fun at first but I thought it was kinda cool, I did four. Space is weird, colours in space are weirder. Let me know.

Lucy Lu - Theme 4: Cosmos

HEY. So I wanted to recreate aspects of the universe with fabric and other materials. A lot of what we know about the "cosmos" has to be an extrapolation. Due to the sheer size and complicated nature of everything, it's hard for us to wrap our minds around what a particular planet, star, or galaxy is actually like. The first photo is supposed to be a planet against the sun. I wanted to capture the silhouette to emphasize how small, and lonely a planet can be compared to the sun. (and realistically earth is much much much smaller) We often forget that the sun and earth don't exist for us but are spectacular, individual entities with "lives" of their own. The second photo is my interpretation of the creation of the universe. I feel as if all the contents of the universe has been somehow harmoniously, and beautifully tossed, dispersed, and suspended. Space and time itself are theoretically much like a stretch of fabric, not as abstract as we usually think it is.

Let me know your thoughts, thanks!
