Bre Elbourn - FAST FOOD 1

Fast Food - Breanne Elbourn

Hey guys, so for my fast food I decided to walk up Yonge Street and take a photo of every fast food joint I passed (until I ran out of film/got cold). I went from Gould to just past Bloor in hopes of emphasizing how fast food over-populates our world. I classified basically any joint that you don't sit down and get served as fast food, using my Fujifilm Instax camera to highlight fast food being "instant".

Need feedback on what background you guys like best! As well, I was wanting to put the address underneath each place but wanted some feedback as to whether people think I should write just the number ex. "110" or the number and the street name ex. "110 Yonge St.". I've also considered taking a few out that aren't clear as to what they are... Let me know what you guys think! &What I can improve on/change! Thanks!

  1. !! I absolutely love this idea. The photos look great together. I think I like the middle background the best. I'd say try putting in the numbers, and try the numbers with the street name just to see what it looks like, it'd definitely help with getting the concept across. But it looks pretty damn good the way it is if all else fails.

I think the last background makes each photo pop! but id go with either the middle or the darker one :)

  3. This is such a great idea! i think you should try a black background to to see what the contrast would look like next to the white polaroid backgrounds. Really love this Bre!

  4. Hey Bre

I think this is an interesting concept but I would say no to numbering them or putting addresses on them. only because that amount of fast food restaurants could be in any and every busy metropolis and maybe keeping it more vague emphasizes your point of the omnipresence of the fast food industry. just some thoughts. but its great!

  5. Awesome idea! I like the light grey background the best personally. It lets the photos stand out without being too harsh. And I think the number idea would be cool but putting the street name as well is a bit much.

  6. I really really like this idea!
I like the middle version's background & I think if you were to put numbers / streets on these I would only put the numbers & no street names . BUT I would probably just leave it like this, it's super interesting.

  7. I agree with Chelsea about the addresses/numbers, I don't think it's necessary. The point is made really clear without them, and the addresses really don't matter in the end. Marvellous though, absolutely marvellous.

  8. I like this idea. Did you just apply the background just in Photoshop? I feel like a light coloured background (like the light grey) works nicely but just looks too much like it was done it photoshop. It might be cool if you had layed them out on a more textured background than took a picture of them or just placed them in post on a textured background. Neat idea though! I really like that you decided to do a different medium.

  9. It is a concept no one else came close to which deserves some big ups. Everything about it is fast as if you ran from place to place and got to the scanner just in time with all of your shots. It would be interesting to have one of the photographs be different. A man or woman standing front and centre, or a cow grazing or something.

  10. Think I like the white or dark grey background most. To me, these colours sort of look like a 'thought board' where you tac up image relating to a project, sort of like how police tac up most wanted posters or evidence to a case. If I think of it this way, it makes me think that you were sort of deeply considering something about these places. Love the idea!
