Jessica Benoit Family Photo

For my family photo I chose to shoot a wall of framed family photos in my Grans house while visiting her a little while ago. Im not completely satisfied with this photo mostly because of the lighting and distractions on the table so I plan to reshoot sometime soon but comments and advice would be appreciated:)

  1. I like your idea, you are right the table is a bit distracting, maybe getting rid of it entirely, and achieving the lighting you desired, would then make it a really good shot

  2. I like this idea, and if/when reshooting I would consider shooting from a lower angle, or fixing the distortion .. the angle just seems a little off to me.

  3. + 3 on the table being distracting, have you considered going landscape on the photos. The Idea is great and I think with some minor changes it be even better. The frames are a welcome diferance in the idea of family. :O)

  5. adding to the previous comments, I feel like taking this shot landscape, and doing a manual white balance could do the trick! I'm on the fence about whether the not-so-straight frames help or hurt the image, but I'd definitely suggest pulling away a little bit so that there is no distortion around the edges (or simply fixing the distortion in lightroom could help).

  6. Table out of the way, keep it portrait, but a more "straight on" perspective, aka lower down then that one's taken from.

  7. i like this idea! agree with most of the comments, lowering your angle would help and i think getting rid of the table entirely is a good idea. i also think playing with a square crop might be cool? the crop seems a little tight on the left too, i'd pull back a little.
